Off Grid Solar

Economic

No electrical entrance needed.

In the past, off grid solar was out of reach for many because of the high cost of batteries. Today, battery technology is one of the fastest growing sectors of the energy industry. Innovation and mass production are changing the rate at which adoption is feasible, and in some cases, making off grid installations a more affordable alternative to the electric utility.

Quiet

No unnecessary generator noise

With advances in solar panel efficiency and battery capacity, most new off grid solar systems rely on a generator much less. For a seasonal cabin the necessity of a generator is nearly eliminated whereas a full time residence might expect a properly sized solar system to account for ~50-100 hours of generator use per year.

Resilient

Free from grid interruption

Off grid solar allows you energy independence without the questions surrounding our aging electrical infrastructure and an unforeseen natural disaster. By controlling your energy and power sources the future of your energy system is more predictable.

The Process

Efficient Design

With an eye towards the most efficient design we have worked to deploy systems that incorporate a variety of technologies. For every Watt-hour of energy eliminated we are able to downsize the system in every aspect from solar panels to inverter to batteries. It is with this in mind that we will often provide suggestions on which appliances to select or upgrade, saving cost and complexity.

Quality Installation

A quality installation is important to the longevity and usability of the system. The aspects of the installation that we consider important:

  • Site layout – are the components accessible and serviceable?
  • Compliance – are we complying with local codes and manufacturer’s recommendations?
  • Safety – is the equipment installed to prevent unintentional personal or property hazard?
  • Aesthetic – is the equipment installed in a visually appealing way?

System Support

Off grid solar requires some amount of routine maintenance and occasionally repair. Maintenance includes:

  • Battery inspection – checking connections, adding water (if neccessary), testing for health (voltage and specific gravity).
  • Generator servicing – routine oil, filter, and spark plug changes.
  • Operational testing – verifying that the system is performing optimally.

Component repair and tech support is always a phone call away.
